Loegrion is a country thrice cursed.  Least of the three is the occupation by the Valoisian Empire, which the people have grudgingly learned to live with.  The second is the Rot, spawned by the spells the invaders used during their crusade: Magic spoiled and twisted has infested the fertile meadows, lively rivers and deep forests of Loegrion, turning the very land against its inhabitants and granting a perverted mirror of life to things that should be dead.  Third is the oldest and most dangerous curse: Werewolves, big as horses and hungry for human flesh. It’s this curse that, if left alone, would kill the most, if it weren’t for people like the noble House Feleke, hunters and sworn enemies of the monsters. Greg Feleke, youngest of four, has it all figured out. He’s going to do his part in slowing the spread of the third curse—for a few years, until he’s made enough money to get by on his own. Mostly, he wants to prove to his overbearing family he has what it takes to join the family business. However, when his opportunity finally arrives, it all goes wrong. Greg is bitten, and suddenly finds himself running from his own family. But while hiding on the edges of society, he learns that the three curses might be closer connected than anyone knew—and that the cure might be more fantastic and yet closer at hand that anyone could have dreamed.
