The story takes place in the Mor Empire. It is an empire that has absorbed the surrounding kingdoms. To enforce peace in the conquered lands, the second-born child of each important noble must spend their high school years at the Imperial School of Mor (a legendary king who is said to have founded the kingdom of Mor before it became an empire). Mero is the second son of the King of Sel, an archipelago kingdom on the other side of the world with customs very different from those of the empire.
