In 1970s rural Texas, a strange man named Larry Buddles (a deaf autistic savant in his 60s) moves to farm country to escape his critical peers in the world of science. His odd behavior soon unnerves the locals. At first, they think he's an odd recluse until one day he saves the life of a crippled dog, and his astounding genius is revealed.
