Danny drove to meet Tyrone and ScarJo with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. What he was doing was now against the law. Anyone who wasn't family weren't suppose to have gatherings unless they were related to essential business and even then family gatherings were limited to five unless one household had more than that in the immediate family.
Of course, this was impossible to enforce, but police now had a habit of pulling people over and asking questions and Danny had no desire to see if Luis coughing strategy would work. Just weeks earlier it was as simple as telling them you needed to shop, but now you could only shop on certain days and it wasn't Danny's day. He didn't have one of those official pieces of paper that allowed for travel for essential employees either.
So, he was taking a risk.
Tyrone had given him an address. The problem was GPS wasn't functioning property due to the ongoing cell tower issues, whether due to a government tracking program as Dante said or due to overload as was the popular theory.
"Don't sweat it" Tyrone had said. "We'll just do this old school. If you have any problems, just call on the way..."
And with that he had provided Danny with specific directions, which he had drawn out with a ballpoint pen on a piece of notebook paper as Luis munched cheetos and watched
Alguien Te Mira, which seemed ironic given the present situation. He looked over at the notebook paper in the passenger seat and took the left it instructed. The paper stared back at him accusingly. More evidence for the cops to find if he was pulled over.
His phone rang. He looked and for called it simply said "RESTRICTED."
"Yeah?" he said, answering.
"Take a left onto Broad St right now..."
It was Tyrone.
"Wh..."
"Just do it."
Broad Street had come up fast and he quickly whipped his Subaru, turning and causing a slight squeak from the tires. He gritted his teeth and winced.
"Good" Tyrone said. "Just continue straight, make a right and you'll be back on the right track. Follow the directions from here. See you soon, man."
"What was that all ab..." Danny started to ask but Tyrone had already hung up and as he did he looked to his right and saw between two houses, on the street he would have been travelling on, flashing blue lights from several cars. It was a road block. He would have ran right into it.
His mind full of questions he continued following the directions and as he did the houses got nicer and nicer and the sweat on his forehead colder and colder.
Then he saw it, a the house was massive. Three stories. It was modern but was built in a neo-classical style. The drive-way was brick and there was a gate with two marble lions standing guard. It was just as Tyrone had described. When he had told him about the two lions, Danny thought he was fucking with him, but here they were.
The gate was open so he pulled into the drive-way and as he looked in his rear view the gate closed.
As soon as he stopped his car there was a tap on his window that made Danny almost piss his hands.
He jerked his head and Tyrone was there, smiling and laughing.
"Oh shit, sorry man, didn't mean to scare you" he said, opening the driver's door for him
Danny got out and was caught off guard when Tyrone grabbed his hand and brought him in for a hug. It wasn't just because that thing just didn't happen in the age of social distancing, but because it was an awfully friendly greeting for someone he barely knew. Still, Danny liked it. The close contact felt foreign and taboo.
"It's really good to see you" Tyrone said. "Sorry about that call back there..."
"How did you...?"
"Know? Police scanner" Tyrone said, a-matter-of-factly.
Danny didn't know what to say to that and Tyrone changed the subject.
"Come on, ScarLo is inside cooking us a meal. We thought we'd kick back, have some beers, watch a movie, maybe play video games. You down?"
Danny nodded, trying to contain his excitement.
Holy shit this was like real life again.
"Nice house" Danny said.
"Oh, thanks. It's not ours, though."
"It's not?" Danny asked, worried.
"No, it's an AirBnB..."
Danny made an audible sigh of relief.
"Yeah. The owner's dead. Died of the virus while we were staying here when we had it so we could quarantine, so we just stayed. Who's going to tell us otherwise? Come on, ScarLo is inside..."
And with that Tyrone led a dumbfounded Danny into the house.
The house was even more incredible inside than out. The kitchen had huge vaulted ceilings with this tile that had to be imported. Maybe Spanish? Danny didn't know his tile.
As he was taking it in two arms embraced him and two big tits breast squished against his body.
"Danny!!" an excited voice belonging to ScarLo screaming, a large spoon with red sauce residue in one hand now behind his back. "It's so good to see you!"
"You...You... too" he said. He felt warm all over. He knew his face must be red. The contact was incredible. It didn't hurt that she smelled so good and she was wearing a top that showed all of her cleavage. He awkwardly and stealthy adjusted his stance to hide a half boner.
ScarJo tussled his hair and kissed him on the cheek.
"Always love that white boy hair" she added.
Danny must have looked drugged. He felt like he was in a trance.
"Hey now..." Tyrone said and Danny snapped out of his trance and was about to apologize when they both laughed. He was only joking.
"It's s'all good man. I know all about ScarLo's powers. They were so strong she forced me to put a ring on it with them!"
"Forced you?" ScarLo said fainting shock and then whacking him on the head playfully with the spoon, causing a splatter of sauce to stick to his shiny forehead.
"Hey!" Tyrone shouted, smiling. "You sauce me I'll sauce you later tonight..."
"Ooo-La-La" ScarLo teased, wiping the sauce with a paper towel.
Is that... a Bounty paper towel?
It was a stupid thought, but it had been months since he'd seen a name brand paper product.
"Well, I hope you're hungry. I'm making my famous spaghetti" ScarLo said.
"It really is something special" Tyrone said. "The other reason I put a ring on it"
"That sounds good. Thank you" Danny said just to say something.
ScarLo cracked a smile and tussled his hair again.
"You're too polite and cute" she said and headed back towards the pot boiling on the center aisle range, her ass bouncing as she did.
Tyrone eyed it and shook his head, then looked at Danny and laughed.
"Come on man, let's have a beer."
They drank beers in the giant living room and slowly Danny became more comfortable and then really started to have a good time. They played video games and eventually ScarLo announced dinner. They ended up eating her spaghetti, which was really good, while watching the film Donnie Darko which seemed like a strange choice because it didn't seem like something they'd pick (although maybe he was being racist thinking that, he thought with a tinge of guilt) but it was also one of his favorite movies.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
He loved it so much that whenever he met someone new he'd usually bring that up as some sort of key piece of important information about himself when getting to know them. Hell, he'd even mentioned it to Dante.
"That was really good" ScarLo announced when it was over and begin to collect their dishes.
"I can help" Danny announced and went to stand but ScarLo gently pushed him back down with a free hand. The hand pressed right onto his crotch but he thought it must have been a mistake caused by having her hands full. Still, he found himself getting excited. "I got it sweetie..." she smiled and winked.
He realized at this point he felt really relaxed.
I did drink a lot, he thought to himself.
Tyrone was looking at him, grinning.
"Yeah... it's one of my favorite movies, actually" Danny said, trying to get back onto the topic.
"Really?" ScarLo said. "Wow, crazy I picked that, then. I just thought the thumbnail with that weird rabbit -- Frank -- looked really weird and interesting..."
ScarLo excused herself and marched into the kitchen and Danny found his eyes following her. He felt something ice cold touch his arm and he turned to see Tyrone holding a freshly opened beer in his direction.
"Here you go, man..."
"Thanks" Danny said, taking it and take a swig.
"So, let me ask you: have you given anymore thought about what we talked about the other day?" Tyrone asked.
"The other day?" Danny asked, feeling hazy.
"About going to Maine. Me and ScarLo are serious and if you want to come..."
"Oh... Yeah, I don't know..."
"How can you not know?" Tyrone replied. "No offense, but come on man. You know you want to. You know you hate this. We hate it just as much. It'll be different there. It already is different there. What do you have holding down here then? Family?"
"No..." Danny said, shaking his head. "No family."
"We don't either" Tyrone said. "So then there's nothing holding you back but yourself, right?"
Danny nodded. It was true.
"Don't tell me you were okay with the trip over here?"
"The trip over here?" Danny asked. "What do you mean?"
"Having to watch over your shoulder. Here, where we are, we can't even travel to hang out with friends. Don't you think that's fucking bullshit? Even for us with Immunity we can't do that kind of shit and I look at you and I see someone who really gets it. You know?"
"Gets it?" Danny asked. The words causing a light to flicker in his head that was quickly burned out by the growing haze he felt. He sat the beer on the table.
"...even today you almost got caught. If I hadn't warned you then you would have ran right into that road block..."
"Thanks..." Danny said, not knowing what else to say.
"You don't have to thank me, man, and it's not thanks I want. My point is we shouldn't have to worry about things like that, right?"
"Right" Danny agreed.
"In Maine, we wouldn't have to. They're keeping the virus out and everything is open for business..."
"Yeah but with them nationalizing all the restrictions how long will that last?" Danny asked.
"It doesn't matter. You haven't heard? Maine's Governor said they weren't going to comply and from what I'm reading they're going to officially declare their sovereignty this week. The Free Republic of Maine will be born."
Tyrone tapped his beer glass against Danny's just sitting on the table.
"Where did you hear that?" Danny asked.
"Well... I read a lot of stuff on the deep web" he responded. "Lots of underground info there and it's often right on the money and this comes from a reliable source..."
"Dante". The name escaped Danny's lips before he could stop himself.
Tyrone gave Danny a look.
"Wait a second? You read his stuff too? Man, I knew you got it!"
"Yeah, Dante's great" Danny said, excitedly, happy to discuss him with someone else. "I...um... kinda know him. I mean, not really, but we chat and stuff..."
"No shit" Tyrone said, nodding his head. "I'm impressed. That dude knows his shit."
"Fuck yeah he does" Danny nodded and picked up his beer again, drinking with confidence. He was feeling comfortable again.
ScarLo came back and grabbed a piece of silverware she had forgotten, tussling Danny's hair again as she walked back into the kitchen. Danny's eyes were glued to her again as she did.
When he turned back to Tyrone he was staring at him, grinning.
Danny felt embarrassed.
"I..."
"She likes you" he said. "I haven't seen her like someone this much in awhile..."
"Wha..."
"You know, if you want to fuck her, you can. I mean, she clearly wants to..."
Danny thought he was angry. Maybe he was messing with him. Was this some kind of weird test of loyalty?
Danny stammered, not knowing what to say.
"Relax, dude. It's okay. We're in an open relationship. Always have been and I don't get jealous and neither does she. It's how we work so well together..."
"Really?" Danny finally was able to ask.
Tyrone nodded.
"So, do you want to?"
"Do I want to what?" Danny asked, afraid to say it.
"Fuck her" Tyrone responded, rolling his eyes and laughing. "I'll make it easy for you..."
There was a pause and then Danny said one word: "Yes..."
Tyrone nodded.
"Uno momento" he said and walked into the kitchen, whispered something into ScarLo's ear and then headed back.
He stretched and yawned.
"Welp, it's past my bed time. I'm going to get some shut eye."
He leaned over and clanked his beer glass against Danny's.
"Have fun and let's talk more about what we were talking about later, cool?"
Danny nodded rapidly.
He didn't turn around but heard Tyrone behind the coach say "goodnight, baby. Have fun" behind him and the couch and the sound of them kissing. Then there was ScarLo, pulling him up and leading him into a bedroom in the opposite direction Tyrone went.
About an hour later he laid in bed looking at the ceiling. ScarLo was beside him, head pressed against his chest.
He was trying to take in what had just happened, the fog beginning to clear from his head.
Maybe the reason Tyrone and ScarLo had approached him in the first place was because they were some sort of swingers. Maybe that's what this was all about. But maybe he would go to Maine. He did like them. He did like the idea.
His eyes begin to get heavy and he drifted off to sleep, but one fleeting thought entered his mind right before he drifted off: He knew how Tyrone had known about the road block, but how had Tyrone known he was about to hit it?
