Penny is a former professional gamer and amateur hunter who forages and scavenges to survive in the new post-apocalyptic world. To save the life of an ex-military sniper named Remington, she tells him a lie: there is a safe haven up north which remains untouched by the previous country-wide coup d'état which destroyed all sanctuary outposts in the United States. With a relationship built on a lie, this unusual duo must rely on each other if they are going to outlast the threats of warring factions, predatory creatures called Metamons, and the omniscient, omnipotent entity called the System.
