If magic flowed through the veins of the world, then the continent of Aethos would be its heart. In its golden age, the mages of the Black City guided the world through rapid advancements using a magical ore known as Athenium, a resource so powerful it was said to be able to cure any disease, extend the lifespan- even eliminate death, all through the newfound art of Enchanting. Like any source of power, the Athenium's abilities bred greed in the enchanters of the Black City. They exploited its power without fully understanding it, causing a devastating magical explosion known as the Cataclysm, which destroyed The Black City and wiped the Ebony Empire off of the map. The surrounding kingdoms fell into a violent war, racing to fill the sudden power gap left by the Cataclysm. The kingdom of Celedon reigned supreme, and the Ivory Empire began. Over three hundred years later, the Celonians remain in power. Magic is outlawed throughout the Empire, punishable by death. The remaining Athenium was sealed away inside a vault, a vault that can only be opened by an Enchanter. War brews in the West, and the Emperor has fallen ill. A young girl named Marzipan is about to discover the forgotten secrets of the Arcane.
