Synopsis
No one can escape the harsh reality. In a kingdom where destiny weaves the lives of four youths into a complex tapestry, each must navigate their own treacherous path to adulthood. Eiri, an unruly girl, yearns for adventure but finds no role model in her mother. Pepin, a slow-witted boy with a beard, struggles to fit into his elven village and dreams of becoming a sorcerer. Sebas, the second-born son of a ranger, struggles with jealousy towards his accomplished brother, who behaves like a prince charming. Hilda, the daughter of a gambler, seeks refuge and love in unlikely places, paying dearly for both. Their lives are nothing more than drops in the ocean for the higher class and gods, but every tree had once been an insignificant seed.
Follow the story of complex and morally grey characters in a richly detailed medieval setting where satire and contemporary blend seamlessly.
This is the first volume of Divine Tragicomedy. None of the four main characters meet face-to-face in this book, but the threads of their fates slowly begin plaiting.
“Boring or not, every story has a beginning.”
