Synopsis
Humanity was on top, and they knew it. Until they decided to travel across the void to another galaxy…
Humanity reached for the stars, and succeeded. Our species grew, and expanded, and developed until we spanned every section of the Milky Way. The galaxy had to be defined by slices to make it easier to track population. There were trillions upon trillions of humans per slice, and the galaxy was divided into 16 slices, 32 sub-slices.
When the human expedition made it to the Andromeda Galaxy, it was 50 ships strong. Brand new ships of the line. Only five were dedicated to colonists and their equipment. Communications were lost three days after their arrival, with no explanation why, or what happened.
One month later almost to the day humanity loses contact with the entire star system their Andromeda Expedition launched from. Three hundred more systems were lost before anyone survived long enough to get any information out of a besieged system. It still wasn't enough.
Now, a thousand years later, humanity survives in the darkness between galaxies. A fraction of their once incredible numbers. Where ships numbered the millions, now they number the thousands. A series of space stations the only port her ships can call home.
But the time is soon coming when humanity will need to make a decision. Strike out towards another galaxy, or seek retribution for the loss of a civilization no living person was alive to experience.
