All Yahya wanted was to visit his father’s grave and show him his spaceship model that he had spent weeks perfecting to look like the one in the photograph hidden in his mother’s safe, the same type his father had piloted as a proud empire pilot. But things rarely went his way. Not long after he and his best friend Jomaira, a Lieki with mind-control abilities, set foot outside their planet, they found themselves helping a rebellion member break out a teammate.  To make matters worse, Yahya seemed to be the only one who could activate the mysterious device that both the empire and the rebellion were after, a device built by a long-gone civilization. What was supposed to be a three-trip turned into a chase across the galaxy, where enemies became allies, and those meant to protect the people turned into monsters out for his blood.
