Synopsis
Sheil is a man. A life before that, he was a blue bird. A life before that, he was a dog.
An accomplished spirit serving people for generations, he's what's known as a Good Soul. One of millions, he's lived and relived secret lives in service to people, returning at the end of each life to Good Soul headquarters in the Middle Plane.
Ripped from his most recent assignment as a father, Sheil is struggling to come to grips with his own tragic death at the hands of any Good Soul's natural enemy, The Spider.
This isn't his first encounter with The Spider. It killed him in a plane crash in 1981 and a heart attack a few centuries before that, but this time he was in love. This time, he had a family.
At the risk of disciplinary action, Sheil can't let go of his humanity, and against sacrosanct company policies, he finds himself yearning for the life he left behind. Unwilling to accept the status quo, he does what no Good Soul has done before--he demands his life back, from none other than The Spider itself.
Returning to the world as a ghost of his former self, Sheil must elicit the help of other Good Souls--and a few Bad Ones, to face The Spider's villainous network. Defying an ancient natural order could mean chaos, but Sheil holds fast to the only truth he knows: real love is worth fighting for.
