Synopsis
The world had been beautiful once, a place of awe and wonder where no one suffered, and all was plentiful. A world that was created by the hearts and minds of a people who cared for the world around them and strived to find a purpose in their lives. Their imaginations found life by their hands and the people of that world rejoiced in their work, a fulfilling life of hard work and dedication. The earth produced food beyond the needs of its inhabitants and the stars offered them a chance of spreading this wealth amongst the vast expanses of the worlds that lay beyond. To this end, a man created a machine that would allow for people to leave the planet easily to reach those distant stars and worlds that generations before could only dream about. He created a window that separated the atmosphere, allowing vehicles to float freely into the space beyond. It came at the cost of the land below, and a continent was sacrificed for the greater good of the people. Prosperity ensued and the expeditions from the stars brought back metals and minerals that helped fuel the active imaginations of the many peoples of the world. This prosperity would not last, however.
The rulers of the world bickered and fought over who should make profit from this marvelous machine and how the riches should be distributed to the world. Their decision, as it often was, was fueled by greed and pride in things that they had no right to control. Men who thought themselves gods fought over the machine with words and weapons, leaving ruin and death in their wake. Eden was shattered by the hands of those who didn’t contribute to its creation and had no respect for the work of those who did. Fire engulfed both Eden and Babylon alike. In an instant the world was plunged back into darkness by the acts of those who selfishly thought that no one should hold the power of the stars. The sickness of the fire spread to every corner of the world, many suffered and died in this toxic world of revenge and bitterness. Those that lived suffered a far worse fate. They ran and hid amongst the few wilds that were left in the world, small pockets of humanity clinging to the hope that there was another day.
This is the story of a boy named John in search of the truth to his own life and reality.
