A college student, Clyde, is transported along with a classmate, Crystal, to the universe of Pavilion. Turns out they were summoned by the Steam Empire in their latest experiment, codenamed Virtual Training Program or VTR. They are brought onboard the SSF ice Spear where Dr. Haley Informs them that they will be joining the SSF, aka the Steam Space Forces, in a Campaign to capture the Insect planet of Nest. She also informs them of another thing. Due to the weird ins and outs of VTR and how marriage works in the universe, Clyde and Crystal are legally married. Soon, the Overpowered Death Cult wants to kill them and they declare war. Will they be able to stop the Death Cult? Why is Emperor, the emperor of the steam empire, hate the two so much?
