Riley always hated 'Heroes' as told of in story books. How proud and mighty they were, how tragically they always fell. It wasn't just the stories, either. Every Hero that the Song of Cycles has chosen for the past seven thousand years has died a young, tragic death, after fulfilling their duty. Even the Hero of the Demon Wars, from another world, who came and saved the world a thousand years ago, died young, put to rest in a grave that was left abandoned far too early. And the Dark Heroes are even worse. Why would anyone ever look up to those kinds of people? Lately, though, her mind has begun to change. She's been shown a new kind of light. Maybe not every hero is a toxic paragon of absolute perfection, or the pinnacle of evil. Maybe some of them are ordinary people with muddied hearts. Maybe there's a chance.
