Synopsis
Waking up out of time was never part of the plan.
Havok Tyler Vane was your average gamer nerd at the age of 17 in the year 2566. Besides his above-average grades in several subjects at school, his greatest achievement was a high leveled magic casting character in the VRMMORPG: Atlas Worlds. At least until an accident during an unexpected server outage trapped his mind within the computer network of the game.
Two hundred years later, and Havok has become a literal 'Ghost in the Shell' within the global Web. Hiding from both govermnents and corporations while watching the human world advance around him, Havok was nearly perfectly at peace with his situation. Until he decided to take up a new home in a series of corporate-owned servers that were slated for decommissioning. Trapped and with the timer counting down until the power goes out, he sets up his last will and hopes beyond all measures that he is found and awakened in the future.
Awaken he does, far into the future. Only this time he's no longer on Earth, and his very existence is outlawed by the galaxy at large. Besides the imminent crisis involving a damaged ship full of alien scientists, Havok also has to plan out his life in a galaxy he has no knowledge about. But Havok is anything if not patient, and if the galaxy doesn't have a place for him then he'll just have to carve out a place of his own.
The Dark Stars will come to shine their light, and nothing and no one will stop them.
The Dark Stars is a story I just recently gotten inspiration for, and will be a tale with a far-reaching narative. Maybe even a slow one, to be honest. But I hope everyone will enjoy the journey with me.
As many of the old-timers here on RR know, I'm the author of several other stories that have come and gone. Most of them are on indefinite haitus for a variety of reasons. But I've never really stopped writing. Those of you whom have enjoyed my other works, specifically Universe Online may actually enjoy this story as well. But I know that sci-fi is not everyones cup of tea.
The Dark Stars however is NOT a LitRPG, for which I've been known for. There's no game system in this world, no stat tables, nada. To be honest I got tired of dealing with all the math. Haha. But if you are interested in an emotionally muted but quick-witted protagonist, feel free to give this story a read.
And as always, I welcome constructive criticism, typo reports, or suggestions! Thank you all.
