Meet Vance Elwood, a young zoologist whose love for nature found him working to help study, categorize, and  save endangered species. In a normally quiet town out in the mountains not much happens, the towns only point of interest is a reptile room with several endangered species including the last breeding pair of Granular Salamanders in captivity. Recently there have been several cases of arson in the town, and unfortunately the reptile room goes up in flames. Vance's actions in the fire are noticed by the gods of a different world that are in need of help. Offered boons from the Goddess of Nature and the God of Beasts along with a second chance at life, Vance decides to help them. With a few more scales and a few less memories than he bargained for Vance gets a new life in a new world.
