The story follows Alphonse, a man cursed with immortality. As centuries pass, he witnesses the evolution of mankind, the progression of the world, and, ultimately, the death of his loved ones. Despite the countless grand wars fought and feats conquered, the achievements of the past bring him no joy or pride any longer. All he seeks now is nothing but an end to the treachery of his unending life.
