Over the last eight years, the human military has been engaged in an unrelenting battle against the Crek. These savage creatures, born from a contagious virus transmitted through their bites, periodically awaken and leave behind a trail of destruction. Now, they have set their sights on humanity.  Andrew Whitaker serves as an elite soldier in a specialized squad dedicated to retrieval and rescue missions. However, his role comes with devastating losses. Fueled by memories of loved ones lost in the merciless rampage of the Crek, Andy’s desire for revenge drives him through countless battles. Despite his heroic struggle, humanity remains on the brink of annihilation. Yet, a glimmer of hope emerges when Andy’s team successfully rescues a scientist who possesses the knowledge to put an end to the relentless attacks of the Crek. Time is of the essence, and Andy must join forces with his two closest friends to embark on separate perilous missions. Their goal is to gather the necessary materials for constructing a weapon capable of fending off the Crek.  However, as Andy returns home in search of hidden schematics left by his sister, he is not only confronted by the nightmares of his past but also by betrayal lurking within his own ranks. In a world where allies can become enemies and nothing is as straightforward as it seems, Andy must learn that his thirst for revenge may not be everything he desired. Amidst a universe filled with moral uncertainty, he must grapple with his personal demons. Will Andy rise above his desire for vengeance, or will his fate be sealed as he fights for the survival of humanity? Author Note: My goal with this story is to create a trilogy. Full length chapters are currently between 3-5k words a chapter. However, for the sake of mobile friendly readability the chapters are broken in half.  This is a work in progress and I would love advice and any constructive feedback you may have.  Also please note: I am still playing around with my character names.
