When aliens first visit her planet, Kara takes the opportunity to escape the totalitarian empire that has imprisoned her. The aliens are sympathetic to her grievances and desperately want to build a better world. This should be the best thing that's ever happened to her... right? This is a story about very damaged people trying to do better than the people and systems that shaped them. There will be a lot of happy moments along the way but it isn't a happy story.
