Besides, it's just temporary. One day, she'll save up enough and set off on her own adventure, just like her dad. A priestess from the Church of Blood comes knocking, trying to recruit her again. No thanks. But the Church doesn't give up so easy. After they try to force her to join, she escapes (not before smacking a priest in the balls) and has to use every ounce of her Power, street smarts, and cutting wit to survive. Out on the streets, she does what she has to. Well maybe not what she has to, but gambling and competing in a bloodsport seems as good a way to earn money as any! Vaela, and her collection of frenemies, piss off the wrong people constantly, get embroiled in world-ending quests, and eat some pretty good food.
