Synopsis
humanity has undergone a transformative event with the emergence of "The Catalyst" gene, a sudden genetic mutation that rewrote the rules of evolution. This gene, present in 70% of the global population, manifests in random superpowers upon activation. The range of abilities is vast, unpredictable, and often uncontrollable. Some develop powers tied to elements like fire, water, or lightning. Others gain animalistic traits such as super senses, enhanced speed, or the ability to transform into beasts. The powers can also be object-based, such as creating or manipulating weapons, tools, or constructs, or they can be psychological or mental, like telepathy, illusions, or manipulating emotions. There are even individuals with mythical abilities, resembling gods, monsters, or legendary heroes.
Societal Impact
The widespread appearance of powers has divided society. Those with abilities, called Catalysts, are seen as either blessings or threats, depending on their nature. Governments and organizations have scrambled to create systems to regulate these powers, with some areas embracing Catalyst abilities and others fearing or banning their use. Non-Catalysts (the remaining 30%) often feel marginalized or powerless, leading to significant social unrest. Conversely, some Catalysts with dangerous or uncontrollable powers struggle to find their place in society.
