The Bridge to Forever is a place where no one ever dies. Not permanently, anyway. If a Pathfinder is killed, they respawn and attempt the innumerable trials of the Bridge all over again. But immortality creates bad habits, and when the Pathfinders return to earth, they view human life as dispensable. Abusing their godly strength to treat mortals like dirt. Lan is a victim of such cruelty, forced to spend years living on the brutal streets after his parents were murdered.  As he grows older, his hate for the people that killed his parents, and the Bridge that made them that way festers. And when he finally gets the opportunity to sneak onto the Bridge himself, he only has one thing in mind. Destroy it.
