For eons the Brand, A mysterious fount of energy that gives life to all things, has sought out individuals to bestow upon them great and mysterious power. The influence of the Brand and its Branded, has helped shape the history of the world and drastically alter peoples lives. One such person is Herron Champine, a young kid born in the town of Parish and now, one of the brands chosen. The young man Champ has this new life thrust upon him and now, he has to adapt on the run from individuals after his newfound power. He must navigate what it means to be chosen by the Brand, and find out why he is being hunted because of it.
