Synopsis
When an ordinary step through a doorway strands Cole Bennett, a broken soldier from Earth, in a world of magic, monsters, and peril, survival becomes his only priority. Wounded, haunted by a past he cannot escape, and thrust into the heart of the ancient Eterna'vyrn Forest, Cole’s fate takes an unexpected turn when he is found by Lyrelle Ashthorne, a steadfast elven warrior.
Lyrelle brings him to Sylvalis, the hidden city of the elves, where he faces the council’s scrutiny and an impossible choice: prove his worth or face banishment—or worse. Bound by a magical oath, Cole is granted the class Oathbound, a title steeped in obligation and potential. Yet, his scars—both physical and emotional—threaten to shatter him before he can rise to meet the challenges of this new world.
But Cole isn’t alone in this strange land.
Lyrelle Ashthorne, an elven pathfinder torn between duty and curiosity, becomes Cole’s reluctant guide. Fiercely independent and burdened by her own expectations, she finds her resolve tested as their bond deepens.
Naomi Davis, a sharp-witted 13-year-old transported from Earth, navigates a dangerous world far beyond her years. Protected by Bjorn Hjalmar, a towering Viking warrior with a gentle heart, Naomi’s resilience and intelligence may hold the key to unraveling the mystery of the ripple that brought her here.
Garrick Hale, a grizzled warrior plagued by demons of his own, struggles to reclaim his honor while fighting to overcome his addictions.
Rok, a gentle giant, wields the sentient sword of a fallen paladin, striving to protect those who fear him and live up to the ideals of heroism the sword imparts.
As more people from Earth arrive, their presence disrupts the balance of a world already on the brink. Lords and kings seek to exploit these strangers for their knowledge, while whispers of the Blight, an ancient and insidious corruption, begin to stir once more.
Meanwhile, Darian Voss, noble mage delves into forbidden necromancy. His actions threaten to awaken horrors long buried, sending ripples of chaos across the land. As the Blight rises and the necromancer’s army grows, the fragile peace among the races shatters.
In this sprawling tale of survival, redemption, and camaraderie, humans, elves, giants, and other races must confront their fears, forge alliances, and prepare for an enemy that will stop at nothing to consume the world.
The Binding Threads is a story of second chances, unlikely bonds, and the resilience of the human spirit. When the lines between hero and villain blur, can one soldier from Earth and his allies make a difference, or will their scars define their destiny?
