With a groggy head and an itchy chest, Angela wakes from her stupor to find herself in an unfamiliar environment. Her fogginess clears and she shrieks out, jumping to her feet before doubling over at the pain in her chest.
The surrounding area is dimly lit and Angela seems to be in a tunnel though she can't tell which direction leads out. The reason she had jumped up was because she could (and still can) feel the ground moving beneath her, almost like it is breathing. The place she had gotten up from was an unnaturally flat and was covered in a disgusting purple material, something organic.
Looking around she notices that the entire floor is coated with it; though the walls and ceiling were only partially covered, like the ribs of an animal. Angela is unsure of what to do but as she is thinking about it a voice sounds out in her mind, different from the system's monotony.
"This way, my liege"
Angela is sure the voice is coming from deeper into the tunnel to her left; though she is not sure why she knows this. Though she is hesitant about the voice, she wasn't about to find her way out by herself and so heads down the tunnel.
Not long after Angela enters a large chamber, much brighter than the tunnels, in the middle of the chamber sits a... person? Their upper body is that of a human girl but from the waist down was an enormous body that looked like an ant's.
Angela shirks back in fright but the voice she heard before speaks again and the ant-girl beckons to her with an open expression "Do not be afraid my liege, I mean you no harm". Stepping forward part of the way Angela calls out, her voice wavering "Who are you, where is this".
"I am Lenara, queen of this hive and your loyal subordinate. My drones rescued you and brought you to me."
This confused Angela, the only drones she had met had tried to kill her. Apparently Anara had noticed the suspicion on Angela's face and deduced the reason as her next words attempted to reassure her "The drones that attacked you previously were not under my control, the anima surge had disconnected some of my children and bound them together under a new, separate entity".
Angela frowned. What Lenara had said was possible but if she was speaking the truth then Angela had other pressing questions such as how was she healed and why she was being called 'my liege'? Naturally the easiest way to answer these would be to ask the one that was the source of them, Lenara.
"It is only natural that you are my liege. Though they were not under my control I still felt the fight my drones had, I witnessed your combat prowess through their eyes; you have defeated my strongest warriors and conquered my hive, making me yours to command."
"As to how you are healed, well... you aren't, not exactly. You absorbed a part of my power, evolving your cells and pushing you to become something new. We could even be considered the same species at this point, although perhaps it would be better if I just showed you."
An image appears in Angela's mind, an image of herself but yet not herself, something seen through another eyes. Her appearance was still mostly the same but from her back wings had burst out, unfurling themselves to reveal a full set of butterfly wings. To be honest Angela was quite happy with the wings as the made her look even more enchanting than she currently was but the closer the image gets the more horrified Angela becomes.
The hole where she was impaled was only partially still there but from inside the wound her flesh was wriggling around like worms, slowly entwining themselves with each other. Her heart, which is only partially formed, sits to the side; It pumps blood through a newly formed vein that stretches across the entire cavity. It looked like something from a horror movie.
Angela drops towards the floor, disbelief plastered to her face. Lenara calls out to her and rushes forward at a frightening pace for her size and catches Angela. "do you understand now?" she says, not with her telepathic voice this time but with her actual mouth. "I was hesitant to tell you in case you were displeased. I had no other choice."
Angela's mouth moves up and down but no words come out. After a lot of blubbering Angela finally manages to get out a coherent string of words "What even am I now."
