At three fifteen PM on Tuesday the sixth of August the small Arizona city of Maricopa was enveloped by a bizarre physical phenomenon dubbed The Anomaly. Twenty miles across when it first appeared, The Anomaly is a region in which natural laws are being warped in strange and unpredictable ways. Electricity will not flow and explosives will not detonate making all modern weapons and technology useless, and everything is mutating into bizarre and alien new forms. The effects are lethal. Everyone exposed to it dies over the following days and the affected area is growing. Unless a way is found to stop it The Anomaly will eventually spread across the whole world.  David Jeffcott, a British physicist, is one of a group of scientists and military men called in to investigate it with what they hope is a way to protect them from the worst effects. They must find the cause of The Anomaly and a way to eliminate it before it's too late. If they fail all human life will end, but as Jeffcott and the other members of the expedition make their way across a landscape changed in subtle and disturbing ways they have to contend not only with the physical effects of The Anomaly but also the psychological effects.
