This is a story written from within a story. As Leif Frostmourne made his way to the Drafting Office to be examined and assigned to a School. He meets a girl named Ardyn Emberfyre during the examinations, a Fragmi who dreams of joining the prestigious Knights of the Round Table. And as fate would have it, they formed a mysterious kind of Contracted Bond with each other, forming an unexpected partnership of Fire and Ice.  After their examinations, the two are officially paired and they are assigned to attend Luminary School. Where they will attend classes, engage in friendly competitions with other schools, and undertake quests to earn Recognition Points for their school and increase their Ascension Rank.  Along the way, they will persevere through the challenges of their training, uncover the mysteries of Althea and the Crested Humans or simply Crested, and discover a looming darkness that threatens to disturb the world of Althea.
