Synopsis
Built on a legacy of unity in the face of violent conquest, Hangkiti has become a land known for prosperity, but few know how much is sacrificed every day to maintain that image... and how close it is to crumbling in on itself.
Lovu
The third and youngest prince of Hangkiti, Lovu had no aspirations of taking the throne. Instead, he spent his life focused on worshiping Fam'e - the goddess of peace and love that led Hangkiti out of its dark history and into their current era of peace. Praised for his compassion and dedication to helping everyone he could, his efforts paid off not long after he came of age. Named the next High Advocate - the highest position of authority in Fam'e's temple - Lovu was optimistic for a future of uplifting his people... until an unexpected attack on the capitol brings everything he thought he knew into question.
Akil
Lovu's personal bodyguard, best friend, and lover. He was raised alongside Lovu, but while the prince threw himself into worship, Akil trained to become an Honor - one of Hangkiti's elite knight force. Honing his body and mind into a brutally effective weapon, he earned fame and infamy in equal parts, but that never mattered to him. The only thing he cared about was the solemn mission he was sworn to by Lovu's father: protect the prince at all costs. After working for years to protect his lover from the cruel reality of Hangkiti's "prosperity," the foe that Hangkiti thought it crushed centuries ago rears it's head again, threatening to demolish his lovingly crafted façade.
Topal
Raised between Hangkiti's slums and the perilous wildlands outside of the capitol's safety, Topal only ever knew Hangkiti's cruelty. From a young age, she was marked as a Scar - an untouchable living outside of Fam'e's grace. But even as life turned her bitter and callous, she wasn't content to suffer in silence. Aspiring to become a merchant, she planned to use the wealth and influence it granted to drag herself out of the dirt and pave a road for others to follow in the future. Unfortunately, you had to spend money to make money. So, as the noble quarter erupted in flames and she found a stranded prince with the largest bounty she had ever seen on his head, she is forced to weigh her own morals against the promise of a brighter future written in blood.
