Synopsis
In the opulent Empire of Aldhäa, where magic shapes the civilisation, the lives of two witches—one a renowned violinist and the other an ancient seeker of retribution—intertwine in unforeseen ways.
Roth Wyndgard-Franzen, an accomplished violinist, moves to Stårväldÿ, the lively capital of Aldhäa, to chase her aspirations and support her husband, Oates Franzen. Despite her incredible talent, Roth conceals a secret: she has hidden her identity as a witch for a long time. Her budding friendship with Lucyna Grafstrom, a duke's daughter engaged to the first prince, takes a tragic turn when Lucyna succumbs to an unknown ailment. Plagued by guilt for her inability to save Lucyna, Roth slips a note into the prince's pocket during the funeral, revealing the truth of a curse that claimed her friend's life. However, this desperate act sparks the prince’s determined pursuit to uncover the note's author.
On the other side of the world, the enigmatic witch Rache, who has walked the earth for millennia, meticulously weaves the threads of her vengeance. Consumed by an obsessive goal, she schemes for the downfall of a powerful entity to avenge the annihilation of her family and her kind. With every calculated action, Rache nears the unleashing of a force that could shift the balance of reality.
As the narratives of Roth and Rache unfold simultaneously, questions loom large: How will Roth face the inevitable exposure of her true identity? And as Rache approaches her ultimate aim, what unexpected repercussions will arise from her quest for revenge? In what ways will Rache’s mission intertwine with Roth’s destiny, and what heart-wrenching decisions will both women be forced to confront? As they navigate a perilous realm of curses, treachery, and divine retribution, the gods will listen to their stories, but at what cost?
In "Telling the Gods Their Stories," the boundaries between friend and foe blur, and the fate of witches hangs precariously as the past and present converge in a narrative of ambition, guilt, and the pursuit of truth.
