For as long as he could remember, Caleb had always been obsessed by the ocean. He felt drawn to it, as if it was calling out his name but his mother never allowed him to stay in it for too long. The only person who seemed to understand him was his grandmother. When he was younger, she would tell him about Doromea, the mystical island she claimed was her birthland and from which she had been exiled when she fell in love with an outsider. When he was 7, she suddenly disappeared from her beach house and the only thing she left behind was an old notebook. But on his 25th birthday, Caleb received a mysterious message asking him to come to his grandmother's house.  Little did he know the road to Doromea had been opened and only he could save the Ninth Sea from its impending doom.
