Book of Laments contains the tragic and foundational stories for several major characters in the larger work Tales of Masks & Paths.The series takes place on the world of Muntar in an alternate universe where the magical & mundane, the physical & spiritual, humans, animals, gods and other creatures interact with one another. The events in this series take place millennia after the mythical Fracture of Muntar's ancient past.  The Wise of Muntar say that before the Fracture the physical and the spiritual, gods and humans, angels and creatures of flesh and blood not only perceived each other clearly but interacted easily.  The Fracture ended that and Muntar has become of place of violence, oppression and poverty and will remain such until Fel'na'sulani and No'ra'na along with their Witnesses and Protectors bring reconciliation and healing.  Many prophets, priests and kings have claimed to be the fabled heroes, but all have failed to heal the Fracture.  Some say that Fel'na'sulani and No'ra'na have already come but were destroyed by Mar'lanuthee and his followers.  Others say these so-called heroes are nothing but myth and legend.  Still others say that they will come one day to wage a mighty war upon Mar'lanuthee. In Book of Laments you will meet one who believes she is No'ra'na and one who claims to be Fel'na'sulani.  You will also meet Undaree, Cindar & Mel'sa who play significant roles in Tales of Masks & Paths.
