Synopsis
What do a thriving metropolis, a peacekeeping police force, and a high-cost luxury district have in common?
They all act as if the dark underbelly of the city doesn't exist, of course.
Amidst the prospering city of Noviria, there are two Sectors, the High-District, and the Sub-District, self-explanatory, right? The upper-middle class and above are given all the amenities and creature comforts they could dream of, whilst the strays, outcasts, and lawless are subject to live in a hideous rambling of old buildings, ungoverned by the city officials, yet subjected to Peacekeeper raids and searches. The locals who have power, however small, reign like lords, their goons enforcing the cruel pseudo-laws.
But even in a hellhole like this, some find their way, some thrive-some, like Jasper.
His whole life is the same cycle; wake up, go for a jog, scrounge some scraps, run from the peacekeepers, and watch the Luxury District lights and night, preparing to do it all over again. So the first chance to change up the same old same old Jasper pounces on it, even if he is led on a city-wide trip with some uptown cyborg caught up in a mystery, ripped away from everything he ever knew, and possibly subjected to various forms of psychological and physical torture. Anything to escape the monotony, am I right?
