"Syndicate," tells the story of a girl band made up of four members, one of whom, Siti Sara, a mixed-race Arab-Malay Muslim descendant, is in a secret relationship with renowned solo artist Vanessa, a conservative Christian. The couple's publicists have advised them to keep the relationship under wraps, due to concerns about the potential negative impact it may have on their careers. Vanessa's father, who moved the family to Nashville to support her music career, is against the relationship and wants them to break up.
