Synopsis
Emma, a 32 year old computer programmer, is suddenly teleported to a different world, and has to somehow survive the circumstances of her arrival. To whit, she arrives stark naked in the middle of a massive forest without anything on her, without understanding the language spoken by anyone around. At least all the trees look familiar.
Let me preface by some notes so you can decide if it's for you.
While this is an Isekai story, there's not going to be any chosen one with godlike powers in it. Emma has advantages and disadvantages based on her life so far. The disadvantages will be immediately obvious, while the advantages will take a lot longer to bear fruit.
When I say a lot longer, I mean it. This story should be considered slow burn. If you are here for quickly seeing a bunch of awesome magic, it won't happen. It'll always be meant to be secondary to the events happening (though sometimes I may go off the rails, magic is fun). Emma is not meant to be OP, at the start, or anywhere during the story. The story is (deliberately) written from the perspective of a single character that doesn't know what people around her are saying. This means that for most of book 1, it'll be mostly Emma and her thoughts. This got old quickly, so from arc two Emma has a voice, and people to talk to. It's mildly unrealistic, so I'll probably go back and revise it at some point when I can figure out a way to make it less tedious.
One thing that I also keep hearing, so I'll add it up front, is that Emma is not a chosen one, so, imagine what you'd do if you arrived, not knowing anything, in a new world, and no external force gives you a goal. Emma is basically aimless beyond a wish to survive today and tomorrow (at least at this point of the story), she has some minor ambitions, but they're extremely localized and/or personal.
I have some intentions to make this into an exploration of how the existence of magic would affect an early medieval society, in terms of demographics, economics and warfare. We'll see how well that meshes with having a story that's actually fun to read though.
There's no set schedule for new chapters. I attempt to write something every day, and release a chapter when I reach a sufficient number of words. Really though, this often means nothing for several days only to suddenly write several thousand words in a single evening. History teaches that it comes to around 1 chapter every 1 to 1.5 weeks.
I use AI to give me hints on where to improve my writing/grammar. In addition, some sentences might have been originally written by me, and then transformed into readable English by AI sensei. Sometimes it's the reverse. A sentence will be written by AI sensei and it's edited by me to not be utterly cheesy.
