For the past few years of my life, I've been seriously questioning myself.

I — I began to doubt evolution itself.

Is evolution a means of survival, or will it lead to our demise?

Simple organic compounds assembled a more complex coalition that could grow and reproduce, giving rise to every one of the billion species that have inhabited our planet since.

And after four billion years of successful evolution, here we are.

We evolved from a single cell to this incredible society of brilliant minds. These brilliant minds are guiding us towards innovation and catastrophe simultaneously.

We have learned about breakthroughs that have both immense potential for good and evil. From learning to master the winds, humans navigated the seas to create nuclear weapons, creating the possibility of our own annihilation.

Do we represent the apex of human evolution? A portrayal of the ideal being? Pinnacle of life?

No! Not even close!

Evolution will not be contained. Evolution breaks free. It abandons the primitive genealogies, and evolves into supreme, painfully, maybe even dangerously.

But...

There is always that remote possibility, the possibility of evolution... that will lead to demise.

Oh, I mean “our demise”, for the other species... we humans are their demise.

Billions of animals, fish, and birds have been hunted by us humans or died because of environmental issues. Environmental issues that this alleged four billion years of evolved humanity has created.

Forests burned. Countless species went extinct. And many species are standing at the gates of hell, awaiting just a single push from our side.

By pushing other species to extinction, humanity is hurriedly constructing a vessel that will sink to the bottom along with our entire existence.

In this race of evolution, I'll contribute a single step. A step that will help to erase some of our past mistakes; a step that will either become a seed that advances humanity's pursuit of perfection or a seed that will lead to our demise.

Despite the risks, I'll take the risk and step forward because I know “Evolution will not be contained. Evolution breaks free.”

With the same idea, five years of arduous, meticulous work, experiments, and more experiments...

I successfully evolved an “elephant” into the “Woolly Mammoth,” one of the extinct species lost in time.

But at that time, the only thing that I was unaware of... that this evolution of evolving “elephant” into the “Woolly Mammoth” would be the cause of my demise.
