Mr. Thomas had a significant impact on my life. From allowing me to work as a caretaker in the library to inspiring me to read more books. He was always willing to guide me, expecting nothing in return.
Despite being an elderly person and manager of this enormous library at the university, he never looked down on me and always treated me equally. He was the wisest person I have met. It is true, as they say, that old age brings wisdom.
While I was working as a library caretaker, Mr. Thomas observed my obsession with books on medical technology. Because he recognized my interest in the field, he presented me with an opportunity to work in a medical laboratory.
After reading so many books in the library, my passion for medical technology had reached a new level, and my hands were itching for experiments, so I accepted the position right away.
I began working in the lab as a caretaker at the age of fifteen. I assisted several professors with cleaning tubes, measuring chemicals, documenting results, washing laboratory coats, and a variety of other minor tasks.
Working in a laboratory was interesting and educational, but owing to restrictions and the fact that I was not a university student, I never had the opportunity to conduct genuine experiments. All I can do is observe others and clean up the aftermath.
But those two years of observing every experiment in the laboratory have taught me a lot. In my second year of laboratory work, Mr. Thomas sent me to a test for a scholarship for medical students.
At the age of 17, I took that exam, and surprisingly, I passed. My years of reading inside the library and Mr. Thomas' guidance played an important role in my achievement.
Despite the fact that he was not related to me, we had no profound link, and although we rarely spoke, he was the second most important person in my life after my parents. He acted as my guardian, giving me opportunities and directing my life.
After passing the test with flying colors, I was admitted to the best university in my country. And, given that I was here to promote the ridiculous thesis of human evolution, genetic engineering was my first choice.
Because of the scholarship, my fees and living expenses were covered by the government, and additionally, they offered me a stipend, which was even more than my laboratory caretaker's employment.
As one of the scholar students, I was assigned to a university project under Prof. Dr. Grey, One of the world's foremost scientists in the field of genetic engineering.
Prof. Dr. Grey was a tall, middle-aged man who appeared to be in his early 30s. He stood out from the other university teachers because of his muscular and well-defined physique. He carried himself more like an athlete or model than a professor.

Furthermore, he was a nice and laid-back individual. And as he was quite young for a professor, it was easy to communicate with him and get along with him. As I expressed my passion for research in genetic engineering to him, he offered me his huge private laboratory for my personal experiments.
The laboratory was immense, nearly 100 square yards (83.61 m²) with modern technology, equipment for extracting DNA, and an overabundance of chemicals required for genetic experiments.
When I received my personal laboratory with a large space, I relocated and began to live within the laboratory itself, because no one else visits it.
I did not have any lofty dreams. I do not want to create a society of evolved superhumans with the ability to fly or run at high speeds and with superpowers.
I simply wanted to create a civilization in which no one became ill; a society resistant to all diseases. Nobody should get sick, and a pandemic should never happen.
A society where no parent should lose their child, or no child should lose their parents prematurely because of illness.
Nothing like what I've gone through should ever happen to anybody else. I'll create a disease-resistant human race.
With struggling days, sleepless nights, lonely existence, and a single dream, five years passed in a blink.
I've been working on the same concept for five years, doing rigorous, meticulous labor and experiments. I'm here today, so close to touching that goal that I can almost feel it.
In the past five years, I have hardly attended college, working in my laboratory 24/7. And Prof. Dr. Grey supported me in my endeavor, providing me with any equipment or technology required.
I had never met anyone who I could consider a friend before starting college. And once I started college, I began spending every waking hour in this confined laboratory.
After this experiment's success, I would like to go out and express myself, meet new people, make friends, and possibly have a girlfriend…
“Ding!”
The voice of Alexa: my current “girlfriend”, brought me back to my present reality.
“DNA re: modeling has succeeded.”
“Matching DNA characteristics of artificial DNA with naturally found DNA of the Woolly Mammoth.”
“Loading~~”
“Success: DNA perfectly matched.”
“Now it is possible to artificially create any DNA and to modify it as we see fit.”
“Creating an AI simulation for the evolution of an “elephant” into the “Woolly Mammoth.”
“Loading~~”
“Simulation has succeeded: the elephant has evolved into the Woolly Mammoth successfully.”
After five years of grueling work, Alexa told me the best news of my life: I had succeeded.
Yes! Yes! This is what I have been waiting for. For these results, I have spent the last five years of my life working meticulously day and night…
My current research is more than enough for a university project and to land the best job the university has to offer. But… I'll continue this until I attend to my dreams.
There are only a few steps left to complete my dream of creating humanity immune to all diseases. First, animal experiments, and then developing super genes for human experiments.
I'm hoping to gain approval to conduct animal and human studies. Prof. Dr. Grey must be included in my research in order for me to acquire approval to do human tests. I don't mind sharing my research with a professor, even if I'm the only one working on it. And no one is going to put their lives in the hands of a university student, so I need him.
It's time for me to step up and update Prof. Dr. Grey on my progress so that we can start the next experiment together.
“Alexa, tell McDonald to place my daily order, and after that, call Prof. Dr. Grey.”
Ding!
“Order has been placed. Your food will be arriving hot and fresh in 20 min, connecting to Prof. Dr. Grey.”
Ring!
