Chapter 54: Execution

Chapter 54: Execution

Several hours later.

Aurelia moved through the streets, covered with blood. There were many dead bodies at the side of the road. After passing the wreckage of the inner gates, Aurelia ended up entering the inner core of the fort.

Many mages, knights, and high-ranking officers were already waiting for her. Besides, dozens of injured nagas were laying on the ground.

They tore apart their clothes and could no longer hide anything, revealing their scales. Even their scales were no longer clean and were covered in dirt and blood.

Just a glance at them was enough to doubt that these nagas were nobles, main shamans, and the real elite of the naga army a day ago.

However, there was one naga that differed from others. His clothes and his body were left untouched and they didn’t even take his chief’s trident, which was a symbol of his position.

Climbing down from her horse, Aurelia quickly approached the naga chief, stopping several meters away with only a few guards between them.

She spent several moments looking at her opponent, analyzing his posture, manners, and look.

Finishing evaluating the chief, Aurelia nodded to herself before looking into the chief’s eyes.

“Don’t you mind talking?” said Aurelia, inviting the chief toward the near tent. The chief said nothing and nodded, following the commander of the 6th special.

After entering the tent, Aurelia quickly sat at her position at the opposite end of the table with a few of her adjutants next to her while the chief sat in the chair at the opposite end.

There were several meat dishes and alcohol placed at the table that almost immediately attracted the attention of the chief.

Though humans didn’t touch him, they didn’t feed him too, and the chief was starving right now.

“These meals are for you,” Aurelia said with a smile, noticing the chief’s change of expression. However, the naga chief stayed in his seat, touching no food, and just continued to look at Aurelia.

“Since you want to move right to the deal, let’s save time for both of us. I as the commander have many things to do, and will be frank in explaining your and your races’ survivors’ fate.” Her smile instantly disappeared, replaced with a serious expression on her face.

“The expedition army headquarters causes you as the culprit of this war. Your war crimes are innumerable, including several harsh crimes. We accuse you of starting this war, killing innocent, killing war prisoners, and total disregard for the bodies of your enemies. During the war, death is inevitable, but your actions were truly inhuman and only proved once again that it’s futile to talk with monsters that can’t even respect the basic war laws of another race.” Only his mouth appeared from the naga’s mouth while he continued to listen to her.

“Enough with that crap, human, just tell those words already. We have lost, and you winners can do whatever you want. We, the future dead, don’t give a damn for your reasoning to get rid of us.” said the naga, sipping.

Aurelia carefully listened to his words before nodding.

“You and all members of your race will be killed and your bodies will be used as you used the skulls of our warriors to create a pyramid as a reminder to all nagas.” said the commander with a sharp glance at her face.

“I see.” said the chief, relaxing and inclining at his seat when he heard her.

Aurelia continued to look at him before giving a signal to take him away.

The next day.

Many groups of knights and mages were standing in front of the 3-meter platform.

Right now, the naga chief and his executioner were standing there.

There was a long line of nagas that stretched from this field up hundreds of meters away from here with hundreds of surviving nagas.

“Brother, is it the end for us?” asked one naga, holding his wound. His brother couldn’t turn and look at him because of knights and mages that looked at them. So, he could only adjust his posture, raising his shoulders just like he always did when he wanted to encourage his small brother.

“It is. This was our final battle, and we lost it. We as the last survivors of the chief’s guard will follow our leader. Don’t be afraid and be proud, it’s a high honor for any guard to accompany their master in death.” His little brother seemed to calm down a bit when he heard his reassuring words.

At the different side of the line.

“Father looks like I won’t marry her. What a pity!” said the young naga at his back where his old father was standing.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

His father could only smile bitterly and raise his hand to pat him on the shoulder.

“Life is not always fair, my boy. We knew what was at stake when we joined this war.”

His son could only nod, releasing a sigh.

“I know, father, don’t worry, I won’t put a shame on our clan and will meet the death with honor. But, it’s such a pity that she will become a widow long before we even married.” His father could only release a sigh when he heard him.

Such scenes continued to happen all over the line. Fathers, brothers, and sons exchanged their last words, assuring each other to help ease their fear, the fear of death.

A half an hour later, when Aurelia finally appeared at the execution field, she gave an order, and soon everything was ready.

Right now, everyone at the 6th special already knew about what nagas did to their captured comrades and none of them had mercy towards nagas. They just wanted to finish with them as soon as possible.

Realizing their wishes, Aurelia just nodded to the executioner, the most courageous warrior of the previous siege, to start the execution.

...

..

.

Noticing the signal, the executioner raised his long sword above his head and the head of the kneeling naga chief before quickly swinging it down.

*Whoosh*

And the beheaded head fell to the ground, blood dirtied the platform while the dead body reached the ground.

Watching that scene, all nagas at the line simultaneously kneeled before the dead body of their leader before something unexpected started happening!

With the death of their leader, nagas simultaneously turned in the direction of the closest knight or mage and jumped at them with their bare hands.

They preferred to die, revenging their leader and take a bit more humans along with them.

When nagas suddenly attacked, surprise took only the closest to them while many other groups of knights and mages hurried to help their comrades.

Soon, the big blood bath followed in which the members of the 6th special became berserkers, hungry for the blood of nagas.

The 6th special left behind no nagas at that fort while covering the ground with a thick layer of blood.

At the same at the absolutely different frontier, Astra continued to swing her rapier, killing another elite naga that was brave enough to enter the breach. Right now, there were already hundreds of dead bodies here at the breach, with dozens belonging to shamans.

Her once-white clothes were of the same color as the ground around her and she continued to defend this breach all just by herself for thirty minutes already.

Even nagas swallowed their saliva in fear when they saw what she did with several hundred and stopped their advance.

That was enough.

Soon, several groups of knights, covered in blood, arrived at the breach to strengthen their defenses.

The captain of the group quickly approached Astra and bowed with an apologetic expression on his face.

“Commander, we met a group of nagas along our way and were forced to storm our way in. Sorry, for coming late.” Astra said nothing and just nodded, whipping the blood from her rapier before turning and leaving.

“Protect this place with your lives. We can’t lose it if we want to survive.” Said Astra loudly so that everyone in the group heard her. Only salutes from the captain and the knights were answers to her words as she crawled away from the position.

Half an hour later, when she approached another potentially dangerous spot, her adjutant appeared rushing to her.

“Commander, nagas.” Cried the man, gasping, “Nagas are retreating! Besides, some groups at the south wall reported noticing approaching friendly forces. The help is coming!”

“I see,” said Astra. “Report this news to every battle group at the fort. Let them know that the long battle will end soon.”

The adjutant nodded and saluted before disappearing from her sight.

Stella was busy commanding her knights that were currently fighting against nagas at the gates. Enemy turtles easily broke the gates, letting nagas pour into the 2nd layer of defense.

Right now, even reserves were forced to join the battle, and she released a tired sigh, tightly gripping her sword.

It looked like the 5th special won’t be able to hold this island.

As if to prove her thoughts, a group of elite nagas stormed their way from one section of the wall. Her adjutants were already fighting at the important places and Stella could only sigh before taking her sword and moving in that direction.

She took her personal guard of 50 surviving knights with her.

“Attack!” cried Stella, covering her sword and the body with battle energy.

Because of her interference, they saved the situation and pushed back off the walls, restoring the balance for a short time.

However, there were much more enemies, and soon more and more wall sections started crumbling under the enemy push.

Realizing the worsening situation, Stella was already about to give an order to retreat to the final layer of defense and hide at the handmade and fortified hill when a sudden loud sound resounded across the battlefield.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

New explosions resounded with each passing moment, killing more nagas.

When she turned and looked in the direction from which the sounds were coming, a smile appeared on her lips.

Their fleet has finally returned and now when most of the nagas were already inside the fort, they were stuck inside when cannonballs destroyed the gates.

Realizing what was happening, the overall battle spirit of the 5th special was raised to the peak.

Some even started laughing as they killed nagas.

“Help is here!”

“Kill them!”

“Don’t let them escape!”

“Push them back!”

In such a way, the battle flow was reversed and now the 5th special was at advantage!

At the same time as many battles were happening in the north, there was a secret meeting happening inside the unknown building inside the inner city of Freinos city.

At the one side, a cloaked shadow sat, drinking the wine while at the other a rich-looking person sat and looked at him.

“So, what do you think about our offer?’

The rich-looking person seemed to think about his words before releasing a sigh.

“You underestimate the power of their spy web and intel gathering forces. What you have just proposed is too risky and I feel it was a waste of time to come here.” said the rich-looking man, standing from his seat.

Noticing such change in his behavior, the shadow hurried to add his words.

“What if I say you won’t be the only one who joins our plan?” The person who was about to leave stopped his movements and turned to look at the shadow.

“Tell me more, starting from this point.”

“Only if you agree with our plan.”

The rich-looking man seemed to think about his words before sighing and looking at the shadow.

“Before I make the final decision, can you guarantee that the same blood massacre when our Lord returned to the city won’t repeat?”

“Don’t worry, such an event won’t happen again.”

“I heard that those people also thought so and ended up dead because they underestimated him and the Freinos family's hidden powers.”

“Looks like you are afraid of their intel and spy forces.” Said the shadow with something resembling a smile. “It would be better to show you they are helpless against us. It would be fair if we want to get help from your family.”

The rich-looking man nodded to his words before shaking the hand of the shadow and sealing a secret alliance.

“Show me then, what a Syndicate can do.”
