Synopsis
A wretch. Poor and feeble, pitied by even the weakest of existences. Could you imagine being so pathetic that the World itself would keep you from dying, fueled by a twisted sense of fairness?
Granted an immortality that he has never asked for, Engel has been profaned in every way fathomable to mankind. Stripped of his desires, dreams, and ambitions, he was discarded once no longer of use, ultimately forgotten to a tide that never ebbed.
Eons had passed before his seal was lifted, not by the people who had abused him... but by a strange man who reeked of blood and death. Sir Murderer—he called himself.
Now a husk barely capable of simple thoughts, Engel must contemplate how to experience this newfound freedom, cornered between an obsessed woman who wants to own him, and an elegant madman who wishes for nothing more than to butcher him.
In an accursed land plagued by outer entities and horrors beyond reality, he learns, one lesson after another, how to restore the dignity stolen from him.
As the bell tolls, Hautefoi must weep beneath the Old Moon, and he alone shall stand under its pale light.
Disclaimer: This is an experimental novel, and it should be clear from the first chapter that it's not for the faint of heart. There are three intertwined main characters with cycling POVs, but the focus will shift to the leading protagonist, Engel, as soon as he is introduced.
I suggest reading up to that point before deciding whether to drop or continue this book.
Have a fun read.
