The Guardian Spirits are revered. Loved, feared, protected, and even worshiped by some. They heal the world of corruption and keep life balanced on earth. Without them, humans would struggle to survive. Now they’ve begun to corrupt, sickened by an unknown cause. A command from the queen sends two knights on a journey to kill them in order to protect her people. But killing the Guardians is the last thing Taiga or Mouse would ever consider.  Buying time to keep from slaughtering such precious beings, Taiga makes a deal with the queen; they’ll find the source of corruption and cure them before monumental loss of human life, or they will kill every last Guardian Spirit in the kingdom. Taiga and Mouse will do anything to prevent that future, embarking on an impossible journey to save them. But the kingdom is in worse shape than they thought, and stagnant poison has seeped into the inner workings of the kingdom. Trouble has taken root deep within the system, and the Guardians may only be a part of something far more foul and dangerous. This story is LGBT+ friendly, includes violence, gore, and heavy language. There are content warnings posted at the tops of chapters that have sensitive depictions.
