Synopsis
In "Silent Wounds," Sova, a seasoned mercenary known for his calm ruthlessness, takes on a new job in Seoul, hired to protect a prominent executive running a charity aimed at reducing gang violence. For Sova, it’s a seemingly simple role, offering stability far removed from his usual high-risk work. However, the charity’s polished exterior masks a far more sinister purpose.
On the security team with Sova are Choi, a disciplined ex-ROK Army officer who believes in the organization’s noble mission, and Park, a former detective with deep ties to Seoul’s criminal underworld. Choi sees the charity as a cause worth fighting for, while Sova stays detached, focused solely on his duty. But Park’s influence runs deeper than it appears; his connections and casual confidence hint at a hidden agenda, carefully orchestrating the team’s movements while feeding information back to the client.
Over time, Sova begins noticing unsettling patterns—hushed meetings, secretive phone calls, and suspicious ties with powerful gang figures. Gradually, he pieces together that his client is using the charity to seize control of Seoul’s underworld, eliminating rivals in the guise of philanthropy. But as Sova grows more suspicious, so does Park, who has been watching him closely. Sensing that Sova could disrupt the operation, Park subtly manipulates Choi, portraying Sova as an unstable threat. Through carefully planted doubts, Park convinces Choi that Sova might be sabotaging the organization, sowing enough distrust to make her question Sova’s loyalty.
The conflict reaches a breaking point when the client arranges a “peace meeting” with a rival gang, assigning Sova, Choi, and Park to handle security. Sova doesn’t realize that the meeting is a trap designed to eliminate the rivals and frame him for the massacre. When violence erupts, Park executes his plan flawlessly, leaving evidence that paints Sova as the mastermind. Amid the chaos, Park tells Choi, “He’s been working with them all along. I warned you.” Torn and shaken, Choi hesitates, but Park’s deception pushes her to take action.
In a brutal showdown, Sova confronts Park, but Choi steps between them, gun raised. Convinced that Sova is the traitor, she fires, critically wounding him. Sova collapses, betrayed and left for dead as Park looks on, satisfied that his plan has succeeded.
The aftermath is swift: Sova is declared the instigator of the massacre, a rogue mercenary who betrayed the charity. The organization’s facade remains intact, while Park and the client cement their control over the city’s criminal networks. Outwardly loyal, Choi tries to believe she made the right choice, but small inconsistencies haunt her. Though she clings to her loyalty, doubts about Sova’s supposed betrayal linger, leaving a faint shadow over her conviction.
Unknown to them, Sova survives, slipping away from Seoul with his life but nothing else. Betrayed and erased, he vanishes, leaving behind a city that believes him dead.
