Into the vast expanse of the realms of creation, there is small world that lay solitary as it orbits its parent star. Formed by the body of the primordial goddess Gaia and who’s skies are remains of a god. Her spouse, Ouranos.
Upon the surface of Gaia, life blossoms as all man, nature, and the mythical coexist together. The souls and spirits dwell in the underworld and intertwine with the natural landscapes. The land animals graze the fields and sea creatures swim the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas.
Mankind built their ships and palaces as they toiled in their day to day lives. Royals celebrate and commoners’ dwell in the simplicity. Wars rage overseas while monster lurk in the darkness.
And atop the greatest peak in the land, The Olympians from all over the domains gather within an open court with elevated platforms. The columns of ionic and Corinthian design stand firm and rigid as it held up structures the deities sat on.
The goddess sat upon their theatron wearing flowing robes of fine cloth and silk. Wearing gems and ornament complementing the ethereal beauty they had.
The males clothing articles range from robes, tunics, or some form of militant attire. They also wear armor, cloaks, capes, and some beards on their faces.
"Hey," a god nudged another god next to him "Words say that Zeus was at it again" he whispered.
"Is it?" sounding unsurprised "another goddess? nymph? or a mortal?" asked the other god.
"Mortal, a daughter of king. An hear this. He bore with her a child by disguising..."
The god telling the story glanced over his shoulders and then up to where Zeus, Hera, Hades, Hestia, Poseidon, and Demeter sat above the rest of them.
They discuss the events on the mortal realm and the supposed mission to rid of the remnants of the Titans.
Below a seat place Athena, Ares, Hermes, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Artemis, Apollo, and Hephaestus who either joined the discussion or was doing something else to pass the time.
Knowing they were not paying mind to them, the minor god continued.
"The god king disguised himself as the husband of the princess, while the actual prince was at war."
The god who listened looked up to see Hera and the beauty that rivals Aphrodite's. The god queen sat quiet by the side of the king. Her regal purple robes wrap around her curves and made her figure stand out.
Her plump sweet lips partake ambrosia, taking small bites. Her lips then kissed a chalice filled with nectar that flows down within her slender neck.
It was clear to the gods in the court that she was not paying attention to her counterpart, who occasionally asked her.
"What do you think Hera?" said Zeus leaning close to her.
"Do what’s best..." Hera replied coldly, not looking at him.
Zeus could only sigh to himself. Rumors already spread and Hera was not in the best of temperament.
"I feel pity for our queen at times..." the minor god said, crossing his arms.
"And we cannot aid her as well." he glances to Zeus.
"Let us not be the target of Zeus' wrath..."
"True..." he agreed
On the other side across the gods, goddesses yawn from inactivity and long discussions they are having.
"When does it end?" a sea nymph spoke under her breath.
She was fighting not to be lulled by boredom
"Shush... Do not speak dear. This is important." said a goddess clad in white.
"What aid can we give them, goddess? We don’t have such power nor influence. Why be here in the first place?" the nymph complained.
The minor gods in the court either sat upright or leaning back. Yet still paying notice to the discussions while passing words.
"Think what you will... do not blame me if you joined Chelone in her fate. Don't you have a tortoise?" the goddess warned, looking over her shoulders.
...
"Oh right..." mutter the sea nymph.
She just remembered the story how a nymph who was invited to the Zeus and Heras wedding, only for her to not come. It was a disrespect to the gods and was turned into a tortoise.
"I understand the feeling, Niria" another minor goddess joined.
"Goddess Ginoa?" Niria said.
"I do wish something happens..."
"Yes... but usually thi-" the nymph cut her words short.
"Huh?"
HERA
Too many eons we have been together, I have looked pass your infidelities. Yet again Zeus, you impregnate a mortal whore!
Glancing to my left, I see Zeus in his glory. Body build like an immovable mountain and locks that shine like steel.
My eyes pierced the godly image of the husband who supposed to be mine alone.
Slurp~ gulp..
What do you see from them that I do not have? Was I to strict? Too conserved for your liking?
I simply Looked away, took a pitcher and pored myself a drink.
I then asked myself if am I not good enough?
I have my duties as well as yours Zeus, but you don't see me committing adultery.
Pfft... Men.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Huh? What in the gods great name is that?" a nymph voiced her concern.
A voice suddenly captured my ears and I took notice of her first. I saw her head directed to the sky above us. I followed her sight and saw the clouds spiraling in of itself.
"Zeus, what’s the meaning of this?!" Poseidon questioned.
In a flash of light, a three-pronged spear came to existence within the sea god's grasp. Water began to flow around his ocean blue tunic under his influence.
"Halt! this is not my husband's actions!" I said to my brother.
I have not felt an ounce of power among the gods and specially from Zeus. I and the others remained seated, but some stood up in their own accord.
"Always the presumptuous one, brother" Hades commented.
"This got interesting..." Aphrodite chimed in.
Shing...
The war god unsheathed his sword. He stood up and twirled his blade.
"A little stretch is welcomed; I give my thanks old man."
"This is not my doing." Zeus retorted.
"Ugh... brutish" Demeter added.
Artemis, Hestia, Athena nodded in acknowledgement to her words.
"This is impressive, and I thought I'm the only one who does this thing. Ha ha" chuckled Hermes.
Us gods bickered and argued to each other, but we then stopped abruptly when Hermes spoke.
It came to us for some moments of the one who might have started this. We, the gods of the upper echelon, looked down at the likely culprit.
"HER~MES!!!" we all shouted in chorus.
Hermes was gazing at the sky at the time. He was smirking too, probably impressed of his actions.
We spooked him and he froze. But still wearing a smug expression
"Is this your doing Hermes?!" I asked him, brows furrowing.
"Ah... this must be another one of your tricks again" Apollo said, rolling his eyes.
The sun god took a sip of his cup of nectar and a bite of his ambrosia.
"He he..." he chuckled at Apollo's accusation.
"You know me well enough..."
Whoosh!
"That I don’t reveal my tricks so openly." he said, appearing next to Apollo in a flash of speed.
Hermes held a cup in his hand, while Apollo's hand was empty.
"Surprising me like that is not going to work, fool"
"Hmp...*Woosh*" he returned to his seat.
"Queen Hera," he bowed and taking a bite of ambrosia.
"Sigh... annoying..." Apollo looked at his other now empty hand, but the cup was returned.
"I assure you that this is not my ploy... this time" he confessed and paused.
"But I admit!" he presented himself with glee.
"Seeing it now, it could take part in another scheme I'm going to do." the messenger god said, mischievously smiling.
"So, you were planning something? Typical..." Apollo countered, sounding condescended.
"Ha ha! I am indeed..." Hermes responded cheerfully.
Personally, it be easier to blame him but I do not feel any of his influence from the spiraling clouds. Time passed for some time already and still nothing happened.
Our subordinates are murmuring and whispering to one another. My husband's name becoming more prominent in their topics.
As much as I dislike to admit it. His authority keeps many of us in check.
"Silence!!" I shouted.
My voice shook the air and rattled the trees near the court. The lesser gods became silent as a statue and gazed upon me.
"Do not be alarmed, we 5 are present here. No one is insolent enough to strike us when all of us are here." I announced to all present.
After my announcement, our subordinates gave approving nods to my statement. But such moments were cut short when flashes from the heavens emerged.
Flash Crackle! BOOM!!
The sudden scream of thunder and lightning seemingly spread across the realm. Mortals by now would cower to their knees and pray for mercy to Zeus.
Crackle! Flash! Crackle! BOOM!
We all watch as the magnetic power of the heavens paint the dark skies with dances of lighting. Crawling under the clouds similar to vines.
"You outdone yourself, Zeus! This is the best display of power did I ever see..." Dionysus complemented.
"Astonishing!" whispered the minor gods below.
His intension didn't go unnoticed. Dionysus gave a convincing statement to solidify the image of the king. Impressive and unexpected.
Similar to dancers, the spiral clouds and light displays disappeared as mysteriously that it showed.
CLAP!
Zeus clashed his palms together with great force. The clouds disperse under his authority and Helios can be seen once more, his horses pulling his chariot.
"Cough! Cough! Wheeze... Ack! Gasp!"
The sound of labored breathing from below got all our attention and we stared down to see where its coming from.
"A boy? A mortal boy for that matter. How is he in Olympus?" Dionysus scratched his chin.
The mortal was bent over and holding his neck and grasping his chest.
Thud...
He fell to his knees and then was on all fours using his fore arm for stability.
"Gasp... wheeze... Gasp... *I can't... Gasp... Breath*" the boy spoke.
"What language is that?" Artemis leaned slightly forwards.
"Allow me..." Hermes spoke and took a powdered substance from his pouch. He held his open palm with the powder on it near to his mouth.
"Haaaa... Huuuu...." he blew the powder towards the boy.
At the same time. The boy’s face was contorted in pain and agony. Sweat drenching his whole body. Forcing his chest to take as much air as it could.
He watches as, pushing his eyelids open, eyes looking at each of us and then watching as the powder creep towards him.
"Asclepius, what’s wrong with the mortal?" I ask while looking down to the left.
"My queen..." he stood up. "It’s our air your grace. This young mortal has not been blessed yet. Has not received the god's protective blessing from the coming-of-age ritual we taught the mortals against the presence of the divine." he explained.
"The mortal boy however," he pointed at the struggling mortal.
"He has little of it. It’s a miracle that is has not turned to dust in our presence by now."
"Remember Seleme?" said Hades.
"Do not speak that wench's name..." I threatened him, scowling at the mention of her.
"He he he..." he chuckled.
Dionysus kept to himself when he heard his mother's name. Zeus, together with the minor gods and goddesses, did the same as well.
"AAAHH!! FU#K!! MY EYES!!" he screamed.
The cloud of powder envelopes him and he fell to his side.
"Crude..." I commented.
"Ha ha ha ha!" Hermes laughed at the mortal.
CONNOR
"AAAHH!! FU#K!! MY EYES!!" I screamed.
Why the heck did you throw dust in my eyes?! This isn't helping at all!!
I collapsed to the solid ground and endured the massive pain I'm experiencing. I hear their voices. The language was alien to me.
"@$&++-#..."
I couldn’t understand what their saying. Oh god... SH#T!! It hurts!
*Your adaptability to the new environment has increased slightly...*
"Shut up SYSTEM!! You're not helping!" I scream internally at the transparent panel I'm seeing.
"Gasp... Wheeze... Gasp..."
I clutched my chest while curling into a fetal position. The ground was warm, but I feel I jumped into a pan. It’s so hard to breath. The air felt like needles piercing my inside. It was miasma like air. Thick with something I don't know.
The uncaring humanoids only watch as me as I writhe in agony. They whisper and murmur.
*Giggle... Giggle*
And apparently some are sadistic. Enjoying the show.
Bas#ards...
My lungs felt as if being squeezed by an invisible force. And my skin feels like it’s being microwaved.
"Inhale... Exhale... Inhale... Exhale..." I breath in desperation.
I inflate my chest to get as much oxygen in me as I could.
Creak...
I pry my eyes open to see the entities above the bleachers.
They're divine, no doubt about it. They have this ethereal glow to all of them. Specially the 13 divinities on the higher elevated structure.
"Ha ha ha ha ha!" the entity that threw dust into my eyes laughed.
I ignore him and grit my teeth. There was no point getting worked up from the humiliation. So, I decided to push myself up.
Just enough to sit or be on my knees. I didn't f#ckin' care, I don't want to lay on the dirt if I ever die.
"1... 2... 3! Hnng!!" I signaled myself and pushed my body up.
"Now we can understand him..." said the dust thrower.
DING!
*You acquired "Language of the Olympian Gods"*
"The Greek Gods?" I spoke quietly.
That explains a lot...
*Your adaptability to the new environment has increased slightly...*
I could feel that it was now less excruciating, but still painful. I eventually position myself into taking a knee while my head was down. My body is aching and shaking. Every muscle activating for simply keeping myself in this position. I could even see my sweat pooling beneath me.
"Mortal, speak. Why are you here? From where have you come from?" a firm yet feminine voice echoed.
*Your adaptability to the new environment has increased slightly...*
These guys are the Greek gods, SYSTEM. My fate is sealed the moment I came here.
"I'm no MC in a manhwa" I said, losing all hope.
"Insolent..." a deep voice spoke
Crackle... Boom!!
A lightning bolt struck the area in front of me. The charged ions sear though the compact earth. Creating a black soot covered ground and a sizable crater.
Tssssss... Bzzt bzzt
Yup... going to die. The Moira are going to cut my life short any time now.
Lord Hades, my soul will be under your care soon.
"Inhale... Exhale..."
*Your adaptability to the new environment has increased slightly...*
But before I croak, I may at least try something. Let’s try...
Bullsh#tting my way out!
