Synopsis
In the 1950s, a mutation appeared in humanity, granting certain people a greatly increased intelligence, at the cost of exaggerated personalities and a severe lack of common sense. The third world war was aged shortly after the second, and the result was a planet more divided than ever.
Now, the nations of the world have been reduced to walled-up city-states, separated by mutated wilderness and rampaging escaped experiments.
In the City-State of Third York, the council is dominated in equal parts by cogs and regular humans. Illicit experiments of Dark Science, criminal gangs, and countless occult secrets lurk in its streets.
It is in this pandemonium that Lucas DeRose, aged eight, will join the criminal organization known as the Blackfish, beginning a journey that will change his society.
Scraps of Flesh is the first in a series of web serials detailing the life and times of a regular person in a world where one in a thousand is a potential mad scientists, and his development from one side of the moral spectrum to another.
This is a story for a mature audience, but readers are asked to remember that as grim things might seem, there is almost always a bright side awaiting.
