Lucas is doing well in life, getting into a trade school with the first two years covered by a scholarship. There are two problems, though. First of all, the shadows have thickened, and soft murmurs trail his footsteps like a hound, no matter where he goes. Secondly, he's stuck in a burning apartment building five stories above the street, and the cheap supports would break before the firefighters could get there. Before he can worry about his future, he needs to focus on the very present, very real threats now.
