Always Look Your Best - Chapter 1
Harsh EDM blared as Rhresh made his way through the nightclub. Weaving through the tide of clubbers he finally reached a private booth. The goblin carefully coughed just loud enough to be heard over the music. The silver and gray gnoll which had been previously staring off into space clearly deep in thought or just daydreaming snapped to attention.
Giving the comparatively small goblin a brief nod he reached to his side and handed Rhresh a drawstring bag. The goblin opened the bag, took a quick peek and, satisfied with what he saw, shut it again. Slinging the bag around his shoulder Rhresh gave the furry courier a smile, turned around and slipped back into the crowd.

Observing the exchange, a certain squirrelen jotted some notes down on her Mpad before swinging down from her position in the rafters and grabbing a can of sparkling water from the bar. Popping the tab she took a swig from the can burping as the carbonation reached her stomach. Giggling to herself she set off to the dance floor, after all even if she was on a job there wasn’t any reason she couldn't have some fun.

Slipping out of the crowd once more Rhresh was distinctly aware of the weight on his shoulders both physically and metaphorically. If he lost this package he wouldn't just be in deep shit he’d be in the abyss of shit.
Rhresh slipped around a corner and into a hallway that led to the bathrooms, a maintenance closet, and his destination the building's emergency teleportation room. Deftly dodging a drunk kobold who was trying and barely succeeding to locate the lavatory, the goblin reached the door to the ET room.
Cracking open the door Rhresh was relieved to find the room empty. ET rooms usually were but in a nightclub filled with drunk people… Rhresh didn’t want to be surprised a second time, once was embarrassing enough.
Latching the door behind him Rhresh made his way over to a corner of the room with only the dim red glow of the lights in the emergency teleportation room to go by. Slipping the bag off of his shoulder and setting it onto the ground he let himself sigh as he slumped against the wall letting his body join the bag resting on the floor.

The goblin took a moment to catch his breath and then pulled his Mphone out of his pocket flipping it right side up with a flourish. He pressed the power button on the side and looked at the time.
After taking a few minutes to calm himself and his mind he turned on his Mphone again and fed it his magical signature then entered an 8 digit numerical passcode, magical signatures could be faked after all.
Opening his spellbook app he selected the home convenience tab and scrolled until he found the spell he was looking for. Titled ‘Grandma’s Ironing Incantation’ Tapping on the listed spell the screen shifted to show a short description of the spell ‘Grandma wants her grandchildren to always look their best. Wearing disheveled clothing is no way to send a message to those you want to impress.’ Swiping past the description the Mphone revealed a spellform that was decidedly not a simple Ironing cantrip.
Rhresh smiled at this he thought that hiding probably illegal spells behind a simple name was clever. If someone managed to get through his Mphones security and accessed his spellbook app they would probably scroll past it alongside the thousands of other minor and harmless spells he had saved on his Mphone.
Studying the spellform Rhresh was impressed it was both easy to learn and quite complicated. He could tell that it was a communication spell of some sort but he had already known that ahead of time but it was clearly an elegantly done one. After staring at it and using the spellbook app’s 3D viewer functionality to get a good mental image of the pathways he began to construct the spellform.
He wouldn’t be able to cast it from memory anytime soon but with the advances of modern technology allowing him to have an interactive 3D model in his hands he was able to set up the fairly complex spell in only a few minutes.
The spellform solidly anchored by his internal magic wouldn't begin to dissipate unless he completely ignored it or stopped feeding it a trickle of his magic. After taking a quick look around the room out of caution Rhresh took a deep breath and then began to feed magic from his reserves into the spellform.
Rhresh exhaled slightly as the spellform began to gobble up a much more significant amount of magic than he had expected but the goblin continued nevertheless. As the spellform began to activate Rhresh felt his apprehension grow and outside of the part of his mind being used to guide his magic and stabilize the developing spell he began to question himself. Was he doing a good enough job? Did he mess up somehow? Did anyone notice the trade? Was he wor–
The last question was cut off as the spellform completed and a link established itself. Instantly Rhresh stiffened and just before he was about to speak the other end of the line spoke up first. His pointed ears were not ready for the verbal assault that followed.
"Well, look who finally decided to call their old Granny! I was starting to think you forgot all about me, you rascal! You have my damned parcel dontcha?” Spat Grandma, the oldest and arguably the most powerful goblin still living in the entire world of Eliordria.
