The boy slept on the bed without any knowledge of me staring at him. I’d been eyeing him for the last three hours.

I vibrated and slowly moved across the floor. I’d moved nearly ten centimeters, and there was only three meters remaining between us. I’d get there eventually, and then I’d swallow him whole. Mwahahaha.

A pool of drool lay on the ground around me. I couldn’t help myself after I smelled him. It was simply delicious. I was taking in as much of the smell as I could. He was going to taste oh so very great.

What?! I’d never seen anything like it. The window had simply appeared out of nowhere in the middle of my sight, blocking my sight of the boy. I didn’t like that, and I simply wanted it to go away. Without giving it much thought, I pressed the “Curse of Sloth” skill, and fortunately the window disappeared

I continued staring at the boy.

You have been granted a boon!

* Sloth’s Curse ~ 50% increase to agility stat.

Jim pinched himself. Despite the pain flushing through his head, he still couldn’t believe it. It had to be a dream. Something like this simply didn’t happen. It was too good to be true, yet, for all he could tell, that was precisely what it was.

Granted a boon by who? I do feel like I’m being watched. Could it be a god?

Jim stood up on his bed. He jumped up and down, a smile widening on his face. The activity only stopped when his head hit the ceiling, and he fell down on the floor, his sight a blur. This was a boon that would only continue to make him stronger. It was a total life changer.

When his sight stopped spinning, he smelled something terrible in the room. It felt like all the vile liquids the body produced mixed together and then burnt. Now that he had noticed it, he couldn’t un-notice it. The smell harrowed him.

His head jerked at a much faster speed than he had intended, his eyes stopping on a black puddle beneath his mirror. The puddle was oval shaped, stretching out from the wall to the mirrors location, which Jim noticed had been moved. Why would somebody give him a boon, and then move his mirror?

Unless, of course, this was a sign from the god. It could be that the god was trying to tell him who they were. Perhaps they were trying to associate themselves with mirrors, and there was only one god who was tied to mirrors.

How have I gained the the god of illusion’s favor? Does he want me to do something?

He looked at his mirror image, feeling the odd sensation of having somebody else looking at him. Now that he really looked at it, he noticed that it was lightly vibrating. The god of illusion had to be involved somehow. It was something he would think through, but first he needed to clean this mess.

He put on clothes and went downstairs, where his mother was cooking breakfast.

“Are you feeling any better?” His mother asked.

“Better? I’m feeling great.”

“Oh really? I thought you couldn’t go to school yesterday because you were sick.

The words struck him into a shock. It was true that he was sick yesterday. He had forgotten after his body felt so great, as if the disease had been pulled out of him.

Why would the god of illusion do this?

He contemplated telling his mother. On one hand, he didn’t want to lie to his mother. On the other hand, he knew his mother would tell his father, who would in turn tell all of his friends. Word getting out of his disease suddenly disappearing and him gaining a wonderful boon couldn’t be good for him.

“Uhmm…”

“You’re going to school today.”

“Right.”

“And don’t skip a lesson.”

“I won’t.”

I couldn’t believe it. My prey got out of bed, looked at me for a few moments. He escaped me, came back, wiped my drool of the floor, and then left me. He treated me with so much apathy, as if I wasn’t even there.

I vowed, that, I would eat him.
