Arthur Goodman, a former world-class butler, is now a miserable, retired, old man stuck in a lifeless care facility. Deprived of his strength, robbed of his memories of his precious family, and lacking in any hope of reprieve as time marches ever forward. As for an old man like him death lingers around every corner, he feels completely hopeless and as if he was dead already. However, when the system arrives and Earth is integrated into the wider multiverse, Arthur manages to recover his strength and wits and then some. The guiding light of purpose once again illuminates his world, as he recovers the sense of duty and responsibility that he felt as a younger butler. Driven by this desire to serve, and the need to protect and provide for his only surviving grandchild, Lucas, he leaves a decimated Earth behind and sets out on a journey to find a worthy master in and amongst the infinite stars.
