Renecs War
Beginning of the End

Beginning of the End

Drip...drap...drip...drap...drip...drap, he slowly moved his head away from the dripping building. He felt the running water across his face, as he slowly moved away from the oncoming crowd. He knew he had to run, but he could barely move as it is. As the mob circled around him, he knew this was the last time he'd see the city, Elbirret.

Renec (with a silent t) was 10 years old, a small scrawny kid who looked more like he was eight. He wasn't relatively strong and his only defining characteristic was the large scar going from the middle of his forehead down to his eyebrow. Except for his exquisite blue eyes and hair that would change color with the temperature.

He was a raef, being a raef seems like a god-given gift, but in the city Elbirret it was most definitely a curse. Many citizens of Elbirret never knew why raefs were banished from the city, into the terrible hell they called wilderness.

But Renec figured it out a long time ago. The city Elbirret was controlled using magic. It's the only thing that leaders had over everyone else and raefs are the only creatures that can use magic through the energy inside their bodes.

It was quite smart, all things considered. It was so easy to flaunt magic over someone after all you used it everywhere. In the ovens that you bake with, the weapons that you carry around with you, And the heating in your houses, and it was all regulated by the government.

It was a quiet spring morning and things seem to be looking up. Mom got a new job, I was going to an extremely average school, and No one knew that I was a raef.

It was hard sometimes. I had to change my identity when the temperature changed because we couldn't find a suitable wig. It was too expensive. We were in the poor lower class of society, but that was most likely the reason I had survived this long.

Most raefs are discovered soon after or right when they’re born. But I was lucky. Since I came from a relatively poor family the government didn't have tabs on us and all we had to do was not draw attention to ourselves, which included moving around a lot.

There were only three things that were particularly dangerous, one was my mom being killed which might lead to suspicion. The second was government agents discovering us, they sometimes went down into the poor class. The third and worst was the chance that me or Mom we're entered into one of the leader's games. But the chance of that is extremely small

----------------------------------------

One day, Renec was sitting at their small kitchen table consisting mainly of sticks when a man in a yellowish-green suit grabbed his mother and left he knew exactly who they were and his mom was going to be competing in the leader's games.

It was so sudden he didn't know what to think of it. The day of the competition began and Renec found a way to sneak in the stands there wasn't very high security he had to see his mother even if he saw her die.

The idea of the game was simple, a rubber ball was enchanted to have different properties whether it was exploding on impact or piercing through objects. On each side of the arena with a large rune that, when coming in contact with objects wood send a large shockwave shooting the object in the other direction. All you had to do was not die.

When he saw his mother he wanted to run to her, but he wasn't stupid, and he knew that would get him killed. He slowly watched as one of the leaders through the Rubber Ball into the tournament it hit one wall shooting directly to his mother she dodged it with ease, but it bounced off the wall behind her and went right through the back of her heart.

In many stories and myths, they say that seeing someone close to you die not only kills them, but kills a certain part of you. Renec was living proof of that

It was an awful spring morning and things seem to be looking down. Mom was dead, I was hiding in an average alleyway, and everyone knew that I was a raef.
