Synopsis

Chronicle one of the Drågoon Mémoirs. Sir. Samahdemn, a former member of the Ordained Order of Sovereign's Royal Knights, has been named many things in his life. He has been called a king of Men and Mer by some, a confidant by others. A father by a few and a savior by many. A heathen by true believers, a slaver by the disenfranchised, a monster by repute and yes, even a mass murderer by the families left behind in his wake. Having lived for more than four centuries, he's picked up a great many titles; some carrying much more weight than others. But of all the monikers that have been tied to him in his life, there's only one by which he'll be remembered. Drågoon. Or, at least, that's what he hopes. Samahdemn finds himself heavily burdened by the ghosts of the long life he's led. How many souls had he sent to the hereafter during the Dįvonësë War? How many families had he separated as a slaver? How many innocents had he killed in the midst of the reckless actions of his youth? And how undeserving was he of all his blessings? He's a king haunted by both his failings as well as his successes. In the wake of his trials and tribulations, he now stands face-to-face with a people to lead who don't quite understand him, a wife to love who doesn't really know him and children to protect who know not the extent of all his sins or the gravity of the decisions he's been forced to make. None truly know the burdens that he carries with him still; burdens that are not all his own, yet which will weigh upon him until the very unmaking of the world. Many wish to be the one that the Goddess' Ångëls talk about so fervently. Many want to be the one whom Lumå'įl's Fallen fear so intently. Many want to be held by the Queen of the Dįvįnë, kissed by Her lips and blessed by Her hand. Many want to live a life full of prophesy and purpose as a Child of Fate. But how many could do what such a birthright would call for? How many could stand for their soul to be crushed under the weight of so much responsibility and drowned underneath so much blood? Deciding that he should face his inner Dæmöns and air the truths of his life to his people and his family, quite possibly to the detriment of his titles and claims, Samahdemn prepares to release his sins to the masses in the form of his mémoirs. But before he does, he will bare them, along with his most personal thoughts, to his eldest daughter, Aoleon.
