Cristin longs for a life that is now well in the past. With his family in shambles, he turns to the position of a Privateer in hopes that he can earn the money required to grant himself and his mother even a trace of that past life. However, as he finds himself stuck in the middle of conflicts he never wanted a part of, Cristin is tested in both his abilities and morals to the point that he is unsure if that goal is even achievable.
