Acheron Cadell is just an ordinary peasant farmer, still living at home with his parents. He doesn't believe that there will be anything more exciting in his life than getting a second hand horse for the farm. That's ok with him though, he's more than happy to live his life on the farm, fate however, has a different idea. Acheron returns from his work one day to find raiders have killed his parents and set their barn ablaze. Determined to settle the score, Acheron follows the raiders with only a scythe. He puts up a valiant effort but is overwhelmed and struck down, killed by the same people who killed his parents. This however, is not where the story ends, rather death is only the beginning.
