I spent a couple of hours analysing and making assumptions about my new situation. The first most important thing to remember is that I no longer have the ‘luck’ that I had to dodge bullets. So taking on mighty foes is a big no no.

The abilities this system says I have are kind of cool. For Example, that ‘Cell Crafting’ skill sounds as over powered as the destructive cuteness of a new born baby! What I mean is that I could craft anything I want as long as I have the blue print for it. But I have a feeling that such a skill is about as expensive as it is powerful.

There is also the ‘Mana Manipulation’ Skill I have. The ‘Help: Slime Race’ description said that my species survives on mana. So if I develop the skill I may be able to manipulate mana to increase my survivability. I have no idea how to manipulate mana right now but I do know I am capable of it. I believe the sub-skill ‘Mana Sight’ will help me understand mana itself.

‘Activate Mana Sight!’

My mind was immediately met with the sight of blue hues. What I saw was indiscernible and overwhelming for an hour before my mind understood what it was looking at. Below me was a very pale blue, uniform in mana density and it reminded me of the ground. Above me there were many objects with different shapes and different shades of blue mana, are they clouds? Around me was an even more pale cloud of mana. It filled the gaps in between the objects above me, so I immediately associated that with air.

This air was also being absorbed into my body. When I say body, I mean a puddle of blue within the mana sight. I was a puddle, A PUDDLE. If this was a RPG game and I am a slime then I expect to be a bun shaped mass of slime! It’s no surprise that the world seems to disagree with my assumptions.

Seems whatever gave birth to me has long run off, so no answers coming from that source. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m just a random slime trail that the slime split off on passing. Kind of like a snail. Split properly dang’it!

After I calmed down my next action was to attempt to move but to further my frustration I am met with:

to take this action you require Cell manipulation level 3 to use the sub-skill ‘movement’

I want to shoot my foot but I don’t have one.

I am frustrated. I need ‘movement’ to make use of the sub-skill ‘Matter and Mana Consumption’. Mana consumption only lets me survive. It is matter consumption that will let me grow. Means nothing if I can’t find anything to eat.

I spent an hour trying to think of a roundabout way to get a food source.

I did try to eat the ground beneath me but I found that I could not. Don’t know why I could not, it is considered matter. To me that is.

I also used ‘analyse’ on myself.

How humorous.

I then noticed that the clouds above me have not moved. Why? Because they were not clouds, those indiscernible objects were actually edible objects just sitting on top of me. This realisation really made me want to face palm but I did not have a face. Also, how convenient.

Anyway that’s my food shortage problem solved for the time being. Before I start eating I better try something first.

Apparently the Advanced User Interface can create new features tailored to my needs. Sweet! It requires me to propose a system option then it notifies me whether or not it is possible. I know this because I tried to make a ‘save point’ option.

I have two ideas in mind. The first is a ‘Stocktake Loot’ menu that creates a comprehensive list of items outside of my inventory with extra options to prevent cluttering. The system notifies me that it was successfully made due to me having the ‘Open Map’ option and the skill ‘Analyse’.

The second was an option called ‘Pass Time’. It cuts my perception of time into a menu that summarises what I have done during that time. It is a very limited option that is very similar to hibernation. It requires me to input a proposed set of actions and is also tied in with ‘Stocktake Loot’ and ‘Mana Sight’.

The system warns me that opportunities can be missed out on if ‘Pass Time’ is used. I will not use this option under normal circumstances but I doubt there are many opportunities to take advantage of since I am a puddle of slime.

I begin to relax after a very stressful and frustrating period of thinking and planning. There is still much more to go on with but at least I can relax and pass time leisurely now.

I really want to shoot a criminal in the head right about now but patience is a virtue.

I also want to get to the action/culture discovering/adventuring part of the story but setting this up takes priority. *cries*

If any of you have any complaints about the 'pass time' option then I'll tell you that it is a plot device to prevent the MC from growing more insane than he already is. I mean he has killed an unspeakable number of mafia gangsters. That has to put a dent in someones mentality. Don't worry he will not be able to exploit this skill, there will be no automatic grinding to level a skill (except Cell Crafting, that is already automatic), I've limited it to a hibernation-like state where he can only eat. It's a great tool for passing time in prison but I can't think of any other use for it.
